Last night the gang gathered at The Curtain Club in Deep Ellum to witness the new incarnation of Sweet Chaos Band https://sweetchaosband.com/. Two beautiful, talented young women, Sydney and Payton, in their first concert on stage together as a duo, put to rest any question any of us might have entertained as to whether or not they would be able to pull it off. The answer is an unequivocal, unqualified, "They killed it!" I arrived at 8 p.m. sharp, early enough to hear the first two bands. Both were good! Then, Sweet Chaos took the stage, by storm. I can barely understand how Sydney played that bass guitar like an electric guitar. Suffice to say it had to do with some complicated logistics: a couple of amps, some pedals, and a lot of skill, talent and practice. They even integrated a bit of pre-recorded keyboard into the set. Talk about innovative. Those two young women captured the crowd with their artistry and charisma. I know I'm biased, as Sydney's proud uncle, but if the applause after each song and at the end of the set are any indication, all questions have been answered. Definitively. They are damn talented. I can't wait to see where they go next. I tweeted this during their set. 12/8/17 My niece Sydney plays 7 instruments: piano, keyboard, guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, mandolin and ukulele. And she sings and composes original lyrics and music. #SweetChaosBand
